The Difference Between a Career and a Job

Over the years, I have had several jobs, but I have only had one career.

A job is something you do to earn money. A career is the culmination of several jobs over a period of time.

The Meriam-Webster definition of a job:

the work that a person does regularly in order to earn money

and the Meriam-Webster definition of a career:

a job or profession that someone does for a long time

a period of time spent in a job or profession

So, there you go. A job is part of the whole in a career. So far I have been fortunate enough to have a very successful career, and I don’t see myself switching to another career.

Readers, how many careers have you had? Would you change careers if you could? Let me know in the comments!
